Florida Gaming Control Commission Has Appointed New Executive Director

(Florida).- The Florida Gaming Control Commission (FGCC) has named Alana Zimmer to be the new Executive Director of FGCC. The FGCC Executive Director is responsible for directing, coordinating, and administering all activities necessary to fulfill the commission’s responsibilities in accordance with Section 16.712, Florida Statutes, through preserving and protecting the integrity of gaming activities in Florida.
 
																																			“Alana has shown outstanding leadership throughout her career, and I am confident she will work hard to eliminate illegal gambling and support Florida citizens and businesses,” said FGCC Vice Chair Julie Imanuel Brown. “We welcome Alana back to Florida and Tallahassee where she went to college at Florida State University. We are excited to see where all her talents and skills will take FGCC.” 
“I am honored to be appointed by the Florida Gaming Control Commission as its Executive Director,” said Alana Zimmer. “My experience with modernizing the Kansas Lottery and expanding responsible gaming initiatives will transfer well to my new role as the FGCC Executive Director. I look forward to working closely with the Governor and Legislature on improving and expanding responsible gaming in Florida.” 
Zimmer most recently worked as the Executive Director of the Kansas City Automotive Museum where she led a $30 million capital campaign. She has also served as a Commissioner with the Kansas Lottery from 2016 until 2019. Gambling machines are allowed only in legal gaming facilities, and legal slot machines are only in eight licensed pari-mutuel facilities in Miami-Dade and Broward counties and at certain facilities operated by the Seminole Tribe of Florida. It is against the law to offer slot machine gaming or any unauthorized gambling at any unlicensed facility in Florida. A map of authorized locations is available at FLGaming.gov/locations.
